That is what happens when you dream of London since your chilhood...
Because we want to include in our travel also the daydreams and the imagination...
We are together with my friend and we are excited to finally celebrate the summer. Holidays came so slow this year! Before and during the flight , we are already dreaming about the wonderful city we will discover in few hours.
Landed in London, taking a taxi and trying to open our eyes as never before, we are astonished from the beauty that we have the opportunity to discover. Of course, we dreamed about this moment many times, but to be here, now, in the middle of our favourite city in the world, brings strong and new emotions.
Since we came here also to improve our English, we immediately start to walk randomly in the city, to speak as much as we can with the Londoners. It's incredible to see how many cultures are mixed in the amazing "palette" of colours that is London. Lead by the mood of the city, we walk in some narrow streets of the Candem district listening to the musicians that play in each corner. The result is the feeling that everybody here is welcomed with all their differences and particularities. It's also funny to notice that outfits are different describing diverse backgrounds and ethnicity: hippies, punks, "bohèmes", dandies, androgynous, excentrics... Being different here is appreciated .
However, there is a paradox that makes this city even more surprising: turning the corner, the streets show us another aspect of London. Generally the ciry is so regular, so clear and clean. There is something unsetting in the order that suddenly reigns the city. The police stands in a military distribution ensuring the safety of the citizens. We can't hold us to smile seeing how funny is their deportement and their costume.
As every foreigner coming in England, we are prevented about the British food, but during our free walking, we smell some nice perfumes coming from the restaurants that animate the squares. What's the problem to eat peas and mint? We are here to plunge into the London deeper soul! Finally we choose a light and airy space with an open bar area up front and an open kitchen responsible for some of the most satisfying and imaginative cooking that I had in my life! We are still sitting dreaming to all we will do in the next days. I imagine to walk around the Big Ben, crossing the bridges and calling my friends from a red phone cabin. I also think on how I will be astonished in front of the big buildings that I saw so many times in the pictures. I can't wait to see the Royal Opera House... But most of all, I'm thirsty for knowledges about the culture and the Londoners lifestyle!"
