Walk in Perdicaris Park in Tangier with Flore

Like every Saturday, I like to walk in Perdicaris Park.
The Perdicaris Park was my first discovery of Tangier. When I arrived, I stayed locked up at home for days, knowing nothing and nobody here, I was afraid of losing myself. So my husband took me here and told me its story: There was a Greek diplomat, who built this park to that his wife comes to relax there to calm her asthma attacks.

It’s a big park in the center of Tangier, very wooded, very popular with locals who come with family or friends. Sometimes, they come to celebrate their engagement, while their drums (traditional derbouka) resound throughout the park.

Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, it offers a breathtaking view of the Strait of Gibraltar

from which we can already guess the Spanish coasts.

Huge eucalyptus trees, blooming mimosas at this time of year, and pines, float a delicious smell in the atmosphere.
This is my favorite place in Tangier. Since I left my quiet little town in the south of France to join my husband in Tangier, I went through difficult times of homesickness. The rainy season, the constant noises of the city, made me sometimes regret my long boring naps in my father’s hammock.
But when I take time to explore this beautiful city, she offers us treasures of landscapes, hospitality, natural beauty!

Today I have come a long way, I feel at home in Tangier, I know all the traders on my street and I help even newcomers in my neighborhood to find their way.

So I want to give you some advice: When you are in a foreign city, go explore the environment! Without putting yourself in danger of course, stay in busy places, but go visit. You will not get lost. There’s more than one way to skin a cat.
