Plzen: an unexpected treasure in the unknown Czech Republic

First job of my life, I will be a dancer member of the Pilsen DJKT Theatre, in Czech Republic...

But... Pilsen, is not the name of a beer?

I'm in the car with my parents and we are on the road towards Plzen, Czech Republic. My new life is about to start in few hours.

How do i feel? Well, not really at the top of the game. I have the terrible sensation that I'm leaving behind me all my "being", all my friends, all my pleasures and all my memories. I had to leave Madrid to follow my childhood dream to become a professional ballet dancer and I still don't know if this will bring me happiness . However, thanks to the support of my family I feel so much power and courage that I let myself to be open  to the new adventures that I will soon experience.

Ok, we are here. Plzen, a small city in this small and unknown country is shining under an incredible hot summer sun, and thanks to the power of nature I picture already a positive beginning. Even the Czech Republic "landascape" looks extremely different by all the countries we already know, the weather is really reassuring. I was expecting to "land" in a cold, grey and little town, far from the usual joy of the month of August.

We park the car, it's late and we are hungry after an eight-hours travel from Italy. After Walking few meters , I sight an amazing building that seems to be a Gothic cathedral. It is placed on the middle of an old and pretty square, sorrounded by some incredible coloured palaces that remind me the Grand Budapest Hotel. Under the blue, pink and yellow buildings, some tourists mixed to the Plzen citizens are sipping some huge glasses of fresh beer or some coloured limonades filled by different fruits. I can heard the particular sound of the Czech language made by some atypical accents and the particular Slavic intonation. The people are smiling and enjoying this simple moment of summer and that makes me feel suddenly better. We are attracted by a narrow street from where the music of a saxophone is animating the rest of the city. Going closer to the musician, we smell the parfume of some fresh meat grilled at the moment and served with some fried homemade potatoes. It comes from a really particular pub, placed in the corner which let already catch a glimpse of the Old Theatre where I will dance soon. According to our tiredness and our hunger, we stop immediately there and we let the pub's servant preparing us a table inside. Opening the door, we discover a rock and roll ambiance and an eccentric little room staged in a "retro" and vintage" decoration. All the servants are woman and they wear earrings made with the plug of different beer bottles. Their enthousiasm is spreading all over the pub and I start to enjoy the moment.

-"Welcome to Plzen, is your first time here, right? Can I make you try some of our best traditional meals? Here you have already three fresh homemade beers."-

Our conversation gets longer and longer, making us infected by the waitress joy. While learning more about Czech culture we savour the typical dishes so carefully prepared and this combo makes me immerse more and more in the atmosphere. I slowly start to feel extremely lucky to have the possibility to travel so much and in so many different countires.

I'm thirsty of the unknown and I look forward to discover this far and atypical country that will surely contribute to make my horizon larger!
